11-10-2025 - Good Morning! It's Monday. I had to fire up the furnace this morning to raise that temp 4 or 5 degrees. The fireplace video on the big-screen TV was not quite enough. I don't have anything important on the schedule, just that long wait until the Letter Carrier arrives! My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
--- The main difference between Russia and the United States is that in Russia, the state owns everything, whereas in the United States, finance companies do.
--- Our Congress is continually appointing "fact-finding" committees when what they really need are some "fact-facing" committees.
--- Today, I mailed a 2-inch "site announcement" display ad to two well-known Mail Order publishers. I also mailed three "site announcement postcards. I only mailed three because I ran out of postcard stamps. More stamps are on the way.
--- One of the articles in a recent issue of Liberty Press addressed "target marketing" and asked: How many times have you received a mailing that went into the trash just because it was selling a product or service you have no interest in? My answer? I keep the landfill people employed!
--- Today, I received, among other mail, sales circulars in a self-mailer. I'm not a big fan of mail that looks like a copy of a copy of a copy. This self-mailer cover sheet was a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, and was from a long-time, well-known Mail Order Dealer. I'm more than a little surprised.

11-09-2025 - It's Sunday and, of course, no mail delivery today. This is a good time to do research for interesting content for this site. It's slightly chilly in the Mail Room (my office) this morning, so that's a good excuse to play a YouTube fireplace video on the big-screen TV. I have a real fireplace, but it's at the other end of the house. Do you know of any Mail Order journals similar to this one? If so, let me know. I haven't been able to find any. I really miss Carl T. O'Shea's Mail Order Network Newsletter and Carl's "pithy" posts, as he described them. That's how I would describe my scribblings. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
--- Yesterday, I ordered three sheets of postcard stamps to mail some —you guessed it —postcards to jumpstart visits to this site. I'm sending ads to publishers, but they'll take some time to hit the mailboxes.
--- Not long ago, I received a handful of circulars for gifting programs. One of them was an exact copy of one that I received the day before. It had the same three participant names. One was mailed by one of the three people, and the other by another of the listed participants. How does this happen? Could it be that manyprogram participants are being provided with the same mailing list? This is where having a website comes in handy. If you're going to waste money mailing to overused lists, keep it to a postcard and/or a small display or classified ad that sends people to your website to see your sales material, rather than stuffing envelopes with those fancy (expensive) color circulars that cost big First Class postage. Or, find a better mailing list.
